Oliver Simon Partner - Production & Acquisitions

Oliver Simon founded K5 Film in 2001 backed by a housekeeping deal with the Bavaria Film Group. Since then he has produced 17 features. In 2006 his movie Happy As One, directed by Vanessa Jopp, premiered in the Official Selection of the Berlinale and went on to be nominated as Best Film at the German Film Awards. In 2009 he executive produced Get Low, starring Robert Duvall and Bill Murray. He also acted as an Executive Producer on Night Train To Lisbon, directed by Bille August, starring Jeremy Irons, Mélanie Laurent and Bruno Ganz, which premiered at the Berlinale in 2013. Since then he executive produced the Bruce Willis sci-fi action movie Vice, Martin Zandvliet´s Land Of Mine, Jim Jarmuschs Cannes Competition title Paterson, and just recently produced Andrew Niccols’ film Anon, starring Clive Owen and Amanda Seyfried. 

Prior to K5 Film, Oliver co-founded freeX, the first ever German script development agency. He had identified the lack of professional script development in Germany after studying dramatic writing at NYU. From 1994 until 2001 he was involved, under the banner of freeX, in over 20 productions as writer, co-writer or script editor.

In 2006 Oliver partnered up with Daniel Baur, an experienced lawyer and financier. Together they formed K5 International, a sales agency, which ultimately became the K5 Media Group. Part of the K5 Media Group is K5 Media Capital which was founded with Sascha Prestel in 2009, as was the VOD-platform Nowtilus - co-chaired by the German production company Schmitz’ Katze – and since sold to Rovi.

In 2002 Oliver became a member of the renowned network of European producers, Ateliers du Cinéma Européen (aCe), in 2006 a voting member of the prestigious German Film Academy and in 2013 a voting member of the European Film Academy. In recent years he has been invited as a panelist and lecturer to Moscow, Doha, Cannes and Ronda besides international filmschools dffb Berlin and HFF Munich.

Daniel Baur co-founded K5 International together with Oliver Simon in 2007. In collaboration with their partners Prestel and Schaefer they transformed the enterprise into the world-wide operation that is now K5 Media Group with offices in Munich and New York covering sales, financing and production.

Daniel Baur is producer of ANON, the first major high budget production of K5 Film, directed by Andrew Niccol (Gattaca, Lord Of War) starring Clive Owen (The Knick, Valerian) and Amanda Seyfried (Les Miserables, Mamma Mia!). Daniel also executive produced Denmark´s highly acclaimed Academy Award Foreign Picture entry Martin Zandvliet´s Land Of Mine as well as - in cooperation with Amazon Studios - Jim Jarmusch’s Cannes Competition title Paterson starring Adam Driver (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and Golshifteh Farahani. Daniel is currently producing THE COLDEST GAME starring Bill Pullmann and Lotte Verbeek.

Daniel Baur is a graduate of the highly respected MEGA program of the Media Business School in Spain where he studied management of media companies and received a Masters in Audiovisual Management (Honors) in 2001. During MEGA Daniel Baur interned at Deutsche Bank in the entertainment division. Before that Daniel Baur studied entertainment law at the university of Freiburg im Breisgau where he later completed his PhD with a thesis about film licence agreements.

Sascha R. Prestel Partner - Business Development

Born into a family of entrepreneurs Sascha R. Prestel founded his first company at the age of only 25. Two years later he became the general representative of Generali Financial Services, a subsidiary of one of Europe’s top three insurance companies.

Two years later he became the founder, principal shareholder and CEO of KITON Financial Engineering AG. Four years later KITON raised over 700 Mio. Euro.

In 2005 Sascha sold his shares in KITON and made the move into the film business raising money for film funds and consulting for film companies on film financing matters.

In 2008 Sascha headed up IM Internationalmedia AG, the Germany-based parent company of the Internationalmedia Group, a global film company which developed, financed, produced and distributed motion pictures like Alexander, Terminator 3, Life of David Gale, Basic, The Wedding Planner.

In 2009 he partnered up with Oliver Simon and Daniel Baur to run the business development of the K5 Media Group.

Oda Schäfer Partner - Acquisitions & Production

During her Master’s studies in Communication at the Freie Universität Berlin Oda Schaefer worked for the visually trendsetting monthly magazine Tempo as photo editor and later as director of photography, collaborating with a such internationally acclaimed talent as Helmut Newton, Juergen Teller and Wolfgang Tillmans. Under the Tempo-banner she was in charge of the German shows of the touring exhibition „The Graphic Language of Neville Brody“, curated by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Her stint at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles triggered a career switch from print to audiovisual media. Her first job in film after graduating from AFI with a Master of Fine Arts was as an assistant to the line producer for Helkon Media AG. Oda went on to become a Commissioning Editor for RTL, supervising the production of 6 TV-features in only two years.

Since 2002 she has been working as Head of Acquisitions and Production for K5 International and K5 Film, always searching for projects of exceptional quality and potential. Since 2005 she has also been freelancing as a script consultant for the ScriptForum in Vienna.

In 2016 Daniel Baur she worked as producer on ANON, the first major high budget production of K5 Film, directed by Andrew Niccol (Gattaca, Lord Of War, The Host) starring Clive Owen (The Knick, Valerian) and Amanda Seyfried (Les Miserables, Mamma Mia!).

Axel Rolfs Business & Legal Affairs Executive

Prior to working at K5 Media Group Axel Rolfs studied Media Economics and Journalism at the University of Applied Sciences in Wilhelmshaven. During his time at university he gained first experience in the world of media as a music consultant at BMG Zomba Production Music in 2006 and shooting second unit at concerts and festivals for Rock Guerilla TV.

After graduating he assisted the line-producer on the production of Dieter Wedel’s mini-series Gier with Ulrich Tukur, Uwe Ochsenknecht and Sibel Kekili.

Ever the horror buff - even his thesis paper deals with the Halloween-movies - Axel joined K5 initially to support the genre-label Abnormal Pictures in 2009, later moving into supervising in Business & Legal Affairs for the whole group.

Franziska Wolle Head of Accounting

Due to Franziska Wolle's interest in business processes, she started studying business administration at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich with a focus on marketing and service management. In September 2014 she graduated with a bachelor thesis on „Random Acts of Kindness“.

She has joined K5 in 2015.

Viktoria graduated as Multilingual Management Assistant. Later she studied business economics, with a focus on event management. Alongside taking evening classes, Viktoria worked full time in the field of event management and as executive assistant in Berlin. She has joined K5 in 2016.

Tiziana Prestel Project Management

After graduating from the Commercial High School in Rome as Perito Technico Commerciale e Ragioniere and working for Toshiba Italy as Head of the Legal Department Tiziana decided to study German.

In 1986 she moved to Munich and worked in the real estate and financial sectors.

From 1997 until 2000 she did financial planning for the Generali Finance Service, a subsidiary of one of Europe’s top three insurance companies.

In 2000 she moved into consulting, initially as project-manager and finally as project-/process-manager.

Since 2009 she has been consulting for the K5 Media Group.
